Final Coil head towards Bloodstock with new Release

It’s less than two weeks now until Final Coil take to the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2024 – and it’s time for the latest video in the band’s ongoing Countdown To Bloodstock’ series. Today we bring you ‘Endgame’, which was the climactic final track performed at the band’s London launch show for latest album, The World We Inherited.
Final Coil frontman Phil Stiles shares his thoughts on the song and its live impact…
“The final live video in our run up to Bloodstock is also one of our oldest. Endgame was written somewhere back in the mists of time, and it was our main set closer for many years. A youthful, punky outpouring, it always struck me as an explosive finale that provided an element of catharsis, no matter how dark the other songs might get. It was recorded a couple of times, but the definitive version can be found on our Live With Doubt EP, which dates back to 2011.
Somewhere along the way, I started to incorporate a (very) loose interpretation of the Smashing Pumpkins’ version of Talking Heads’ ‘Once in a Lifetime’ – with its simple, grinding riff and vaguely nonsensical lyrics, it just seemed to fit. Whenever we play it, it feels like we’re tearing down everything that we’ve built over the preceding half hour or so, and it tends to leave me somewhat battered at the end! This version, from our album launch, is particularly explosive, and brought the night to a noisy, sweaty close.”
Watch Endgame now!

The World We Inherited is out now on Sliptrick Records and you can see Final Coil live at Bloodstock, on the New Blood Stage on Friday August 9th.

Don’t miss the concluding film in Final Coil’ Countdown To Bloodstock series – a stunning high impact, full production promo video, which will blow you away with its ambition and creativity – coming your way on August 5th!
