DAY 40 Unleashes Their Ferocious New EP ‘The Yellow Emperor’ Out Now!

London-based metal juggernauts DAY 40 are back with a vengeance, released their blistering new EP, The Yellow Emperor , on February 16, 2025 . Blending the ferocity of Thrash, Death, and Progressive Metal , the EP delivers four tracks of pure, razor-sharp intensity that carve out a unique identity in the modern metal landscape.

Founded by Den Dimitrov in 2003, DAY 40 has long been a force in the underground metal scene. Hailing originally from Bulgaria, Dimitrov is a pioneer of death metal in Eastern Europe, having cemented his legacy with Pieces of Reality , a revered underground classic with his former band Brainstorm . Since 2012, he has been joined by bassist Stefan Minev , solidifying the band’s core and fueling their relentless sonic assault.

The band’s most powerful lineup to date now includes Hugo Terva , a drumming powerhouse known for his work with Death Valley Knights and for touring Europe with the legendary speed metal act Savage Grace . Adding even more firepower is guitar virtuoso Nikolay Atanasov , a former member of Agent Steel and current shredder for German thrash metal pioneers REZET .

With a history of international festival headlining spots and a reputation for delivering high-energy live performances—most recently tearing up the stage at Cart & Horses, London —DAY 40 is set to make a lasting impact with The Yellow Emperor .

“This EP represents a new chapter for DAY 40—our heaviest, tightest, and most ambitious work yet,” says Dimitrov. “We’ve poured everything into these songs, and we can’t wait for the world to hear it.”

Prepare to be crushed— The Yellow Emperor has arrived!

Born in the ‘70s Ro has been influenced by music throughout his life. At the tender age of 10, he was dutifully pumping 10ps into the Jukebox to listen to AC/DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie and Iron Maiden’s Run to The Hills constantly, much to the chagrin of everything else in the Youth Club! Ro then went to his first gig – SAXON! Since then all music has been his passion, with metal at its heart.
