Kungens Män release New LP in August on Majestic Mountain Records

For those in the know, Kungens Män are everything you could want from a band and so much more. Having spent a decade in constant motion; pushing the envelope, creating music, and coaxing genres into doing their conceptual bidding, next month the Stockholm sextet release the concluding part of their most ambitious project to date.

For fans of Mythic Sunship, Carlton Melton, Can, Pharoah Sanders, För samtida djur 2 – translated into English as, “For contemporary animals, part 2” – will be released via another indispensable Stockholm-based institution, Majestic Mountain Records. Built entirely on their love for psych, doom and stoner rock, the label has courted Kungens Män for several years about the possibility of one day releasing a record together.

“…And that time is now!” explains MMR’s Marco Berg. “We’re delighted and honoured to finally be bringing you the second chapter in the evolution of their legendarily groovy, deeply trippy, and fiercely funky, free-form psychedelia.”

Creating lush verdant worlds from the stardust of Can, Pharoah Sanders and Faust, Kungens Män are just as capable of crafting minimalist masterpieces, as they are full blown and immersive sonic explorations. Where its predecessor displayed a less improvised side to the adventurous Swedes, Part 2 offers up a return to the classic Kungens Män template. Long sprawling songs and invitations to inner/outer space, over four longer compositions that spread like nebulas in imaginary landscapes. When played back-to-back, both records showcase exactly what makes the band so beloved in their native Sweden.

För samtida djur 2 by Kungens Män will be released on 30th August 2024 in two limited editions variants (Dåderman Edition and Skör lugg Edition), both of which can be pre-ordered from Majestic Mountain Records HERE

Born in the ‘70s Ro has been influenced by music throughout his life. At the tender age of 10, he was dutifully pumping 10ps into the Jukebox to listen to AC/DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie and Iron Maiden’s Run to The Hills constantly, much to the chagrin of everything else in the Youth Club! Ro then went to his first gig – SAXON! Since then all music has been his passion, with metal at its heart.
