In the depths of a cold, dark January, rising rockers Gurnslinger concealed themselves down into the remote setting of Rozel Bay, Jersey (a small island off the north of France) to create their locally anticipated debut. The desolate landscape provided the perfect backdrop for the themes that would come to define their ambitious first venture. As the harsh winter howled outside, local shaman Lucas Sauner was there to record the experiment in full on his makeshift studio on an old farm.
Their raw energy and innovative fusion of stoner rock, progressive structures, punk attitude and unconventional setup proved to be the perfect catalyst. Armed with instruments, a generous supply of ale and a certain herbal inspiration, the quartet set out to capture the essence of a world on the brink. The constant backdrop to their recording sessions was the relentless loop of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ playing on an old battered TV, its dystopian visuals seeping into their musical consciousness. The result, ‘Who Killed the World?’, a sound that defies easy categorization.
London-based producer Steve Sears Jr (Gallows, Conjurer, The Hell, WACO) was sworn in to help with the finishing touches on the mix.
Set for release in 2025 on Argonauta Records’ subsidiary label Octopus Rising, this five track apocalyptic masterpiece promises to be a genre-defying exploration of societal collapse and environmental decay, all filtered through the band’s unique sonic lens.

BAND BIO:
Gurnslinger began their apocalyptic adventure late 2022, fighting for peace on the decaying roads of civilisation. Hailing from the rugged shores of Jersey (a piece of rock scaling a measly forty five square miles situated off the north coast of France), their isolated existence explores themes of doom, decay and the inevitability of the end. This is not to say they’re hopeless nihilists though. With the world about to crumble, they bring a last gasp of life with their innovative fusion of stoner rock, progressive structures and punk attitude.
