‘SICK PUP’ is the third single from Thieves of Liberty’s hotly anticipated album ‘Shangri-La’ and represents the darker side of the band’s music catalogue. Featuring a hard-hitting riff from the start matched with powerful drums and dominant, gruelling vocals.
Lead singer James Boak said of SICK PUP:
“We really wanted to encapsulate the hectic side of our live performances when recording Sick Pup. It’s always a song that demands a kind of raw aggression that we love to produce live and we thought it would be the ideal single to release to contrast our previous feel-good single – Sweet As Today.”
Drummer Tom Bushby said:
“The song is so much fun to both play and listen to. One thing that Kieran and I wanted to incorporate into one of the album tracks was a time change and we thought that Sick Pup was perfect for that. The contrast of stripping such a ferocious song down to just the one guitar in the bridge before launching into an anthemic outro with a full choir singing behind James, really creates a sense of chaos that we hope stands out in listeners’ minds.”
The full-length album is Thieves of Liberty’s best work to date by some distance. The collection of songs is incredibly diverse and yet the quality is consistent; you’ll be dancing, singing, crying and headbanging as you take the journey to Shangri-La. This will undoubtedly cement the band’s transition from rising stars to established industry titans.
