Tons of groovy riffs, instantly infectious hooks and frontman Chris Reardon‘s crazy vocals make PLAIINS‘ sound a feast for fans of passionately played guitar music. The international quartet with members from the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Israel and Germany have recently signed to Long Branch Records and stream their new single ‘Slow Rotting, Fast Decay’, today.
“‘Slow Rotting, Fast Decay’ is a song about the disintegration of a relationship,” comments frontman Chris Reardon. “The relationship has been slowly fracturing and falling apart as the protagonist is trying desperately to search for hope to bring the relationship back together. The song has a slight emo throwback of the likes of My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday. The bridge section drops into a heavy guitar riff as the protagonist’s heart sinks that perhaps the relationship is too broken to fix.”
PLAIINS hit you like a freight train – songs full of power and character, craziness and energy. Founded by singer Chris amidst the pandemic PLAIINS are growing on the soil made fertile by bands like IDLES, QOTSA and Turnstile. Since the release of their debut single ‘The Wolf’ in March 2022, Dizzy, Flo, Timon and Chris have racked up tons of streams, been featured in major editorial playlists on all important platforms (All New Rock, All New Punk etc) and been a recurring guest on big radio stations like BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and RBB Fritz.
With their latest Blow Up The Fizz EP they have been cementing their status as a must-watch-act, showing themselves as a modern, multi-facetted rock outfit. They are able to combine introverted moments with 90s influences, big hooks and sing-along choruses with wiry punk riffs and beefy drums. PLAIINS are talking about the topics that touch their (and probably every other) generation; sex, love, longing and the search for identity, as well as toxic relationships, mental health and social issues. The four are showcasing every emotion, unfiltered, whether on recording, their music videos or live on stage.
On tour with acts like LEAP, Press Club or Itchy, as well as on their own headline shows, PLAIINS prove that they can hold their own both on the small and big stages. If you go see them live (and you should!), you can expect shouting, jumping, stomping and sweating, the boundary between band and audience blurring – high emotions and always with all their heart.
PLAIINS will be performing next at Reeperbahn 2024.
