It’s an emotional journey that invites listeners to headbang to its relentless rhythms while
connecting deeply with its introspective message. Mandragora blend ferocity and vulnerability to create an unforgettable experience, both on record and in their live performances. The lyrics weave a narrative of growth and transformation, capturing the intense struggle between holding on and letting go, portraying a person once seen as innocent and reliant that now longs for independence and self-discovery. The chorus explodes with a plea for liberation, embodying raw, conflicting feelings of loyalty and desire for freedom. It’s a cathartic journey of self-empowerment and the inevitable shift in relationships as one steps into their own identity.
Vocalist Maisie says, ‘The word ’godspeed’ is often used to wish someone good luck when they’re embarking on a new endeavor. In the context of our song, the title symbolises the end of a chapter in one’s life and the realisation that not all relationships, despite deep love, are meant to last. It’s about developing the emotional maturity to let go and wish the best for another person as both of you move forward.’
Known for their heavy riffs and heartfelt lyrics intertwined, Mandragora have quickly made a name for themselves with a live show that is as emotionally stirring as it is exhilarating. The stage, adorned with flowers, vines, and candles, sets a hauntingly beautiful scene, enhancing the visceral experience for their audience.
Having gained airtime on BBC RADIO 1 with all their previous releases, Mandragora are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Bristol music scene. Despite only being together for a year, their talent and recognition speaks volumes about their potential and dedication. The effort is created by dual lead guitarists Ryan Morris and Ryan MacIsaac, Bassist Kieran Pinnick, Riley Green on Drums and Maisie Waterhouse on Vocals. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the band members unite with shared musical influences including System Of A Down, Killswitch Engage, Spiritbox, Deftones and Trivium, which have shaped their distinctive sound. Building on the success of their debut single, ‘BEDROOM’, released last December, Mandragora have secured performances alongside renowned metal acts like Kite Thief, Gender Crisis and Pretty Addicted, and will be supporting Kid Brunswick on their UK Tour in August 2024 and Death Goals on their UK Tour in September 2024.
