Torrens release Surreal Post Rock LP Les lois d’airain

French band Torrens, known for their energetic and innovative approach to post rock, just released their latest album “Les lois d’airain” on June 7, 2024. Torrens derives their name from Latin, signifying the impetuosity, violence, and speed of a torrent as well as the intense heat of an overwhelming sun. Led by Pierre-Henry Boivert, also known as Fera, who has been active since 2019, the band has evolved significantly from their early ambient rock roots.

“Les lois d’airain” marks a departure from their previous work, incorporating elements of extreme, electronic, and pop music to create a unique and dissonant soundscape. The album explores the concept of laws—both natural and human-made—that govern and define our existence, reflecting on how these laws shape, constrain, and ultimately lead to both creation and destruction. Through surrealist imagination, Torrens seeks to evoke a sense of the not-yet-seen, challenging listeners to reconsider their perceptions and beliefs.

Born in the ‘70s Ro has been influenced by music throughout his life. At the tender age of 10, he was dutifully pumping 10ps into the Jukebox to listen to AC/DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie and Iron Maiden’s Run to The Hills constantly, much to the chagrin of everything else in the Youth Club! Ro then went to his first gig – SAXON! Since then all music has been his passion, with metal at its heart.
