Hatchets are a Wiltshire based four piece who are definitely worth taking time to check out. This is the second time seeing them. Last time there was me and about 3 other people, this time the audience size had improved and so it should as this four piece are really starting to shine.
The band consists of Ritchie McGarvie on vocals and guitar, Mark Puddifoot on guitar, Ian James on Bass and Jon Miller on drums.
The Band took to the stage for a 45 minute set which began with the anthemic fist pumping, foot tapping “Stomp”. After this they worked their way through 8 of their own original tracks. The tracks that they have to offer include “Hey Man” which is a rhythmic drum driven tune, which in parts, I felt had influences of BlackFoot and Black Stone Cherry, which is no mean thing. “Angel Delight” opens with a bass line that pulls the audience towards the stage before it powers into your soul and sweeps you towards the dark and powerful and slightly heavier “Past is Dead”. “Empty Rainbows” is a workout of a song that will have you begging for more from this powerful four piece.
Hatchets are a band that really need to be seen so if you get chance go find them at a venue near you or go check their social media page and enjoy what they have to offer. While there enjoy their track “Sin City”.
