The Victoria in Swindon got BlitZed on Friday 18th October 2024. This was the first time I have had chance to see BlitZ up close and personal and they did not disappoint.
They had already had to deal with a Journey that resulted in them being on the road for six hours before they could even do a soundcheck. You would never have known.
Now as I said I haven’t seen these guy’s perform before but whoa, do they rock.
This punk sleaze power trio from Nottingham are worth the ticket price just on their own. Leading from the front is Stuart on Bass and Vocals and humour at one point he was more interested in how well, certain audience members where groomed, It was like a beard appreciation society evening (fair play the fella in question did look smart, if you where there you know what we are talking about). The band themselves are a tight unit and if you haven’t listen to anything of their previous releases now would be the time to go grab some of their stuff.
Kev on Guitar definitely has the skills and seems to be the ringleader of the group although that could just be for appearances but he sure knows how to deliver a tune.
The set list for the evening opened with “Damage” but this bands sound certainly is not doing that.
Seeing a band enjoying themselves on stage is a special thing and BlitZ are definitely enjoying themselves and we where all invited to join the party.
At the back of the stage and by no means forgotten is Matt on drums, the man is a monster of a drummer, and witty with it, yet shy (meet the band you’ll get the dynamic of it).
The set included not only their own homage to Queen and Freddie Mercury but a track that the band are releasing as a interim single until their new album(currently in studio working on) is released . The track is White Wedding the Billy Idol classic and it really is something special, who knows if Billy Idol hears it, he might pop over to the UK and check out BlitZ. you can find out more about the band on their socials so go check them out.
