The Dead Daisies, The Treatment and The Bites.
The Bristol O2 Academy was the venue for a brilliant night on the 20th September, as The Dead Daisies arrived in town for the penultimate gig of their UK Leg of the “Light ‘Em Up” tour.
The evening kicked off with Hollywood newcomers “The Bites” who were out to show that their band motto “that every show is an excuse to party” is a mission statement more than a motto.
The Bites worked their way through tracks from the album “Squeeze” and a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” to start the party off before handing the stage over to “The Treatment”.
The Treatment took up where “The Bites” left off, and took the audience by storm as they drew a set list from previous studio albums. They also played new tracks “Back To The 1970’s” and “Let’s wake up this town” to promote their latest studio album “Wake Up The Neighbourhood”. The Cambridge rockers are definitely a force to be reckoned with when in full flow so if they play a gig that you can get to, you will not be disappointed.
The main Event was “The Dead Daisies” whose latest album “Light ‘Em Up” is helping the band celebrate 10 years together. John Corabi is back on vocals and as a frontman he certainly knows how to get the most out of the audience.
New tracks from the album included “I Wanna Be Your Bitch”, “I’m Gonna Ride” and “Take A Long Line”.
Coupled together with classic tracks like “Lock ‘n’ Load” and “Mexico” they had the Bristol O2 rocking. Also, just for good measure, the band threw in their take on the Creedence Clearwater Revival track “Fortunate Son” and The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter”. This rounded the evening off just nicely.
The Dead Daisies have now headed off to Europe to continue their tour. News recently came out that Doug Aldrich is to stand down due to being diagnosed with a treatable throat cancer (we all wish him a speedy recovery)and his replacement for the rest of the tour will be Former Whitesnake member Reb Beach.
