Following on from the EP’s lead single New Tomorrow, and its follow up “Cry For The World”, Firmament once again brings their crushing modern production to a classic metal sound. And there’s more where that came from!

The EP wasn’t written with a concept in mind, but rather has formed from the messages in the song, allowing Ashes & Awakenings to flow from one song into the next.
Ashes & Awakenings opens with New Tomorrow, a song about rising up from betrayal and fighting back after being knocked down. In the context of Ashes & Awakenings, the song serves as a metaphor for the concept of rebirth and genesis, showing how from the darkest depths, hope, or in this case, life, can still flourish.
From here, Ashes & Awakenings follows the trials faced by us all in our day to day lives, whether it’s over coming trying times (Through Tempests), feeling like there’s no escape from the demons we might be facing (Shadow Game), or feeling trapped, or a prisoner of your own mind and having to ask for help to escape (Caged), Ashes & Awakenings explores themes that should feel familiar to all.
Ashes & Awakenings concludes with an anthemic and impassioned “Cry For The World”, that pleads with the listener to reflect and change their ways and serves as a warning that the world as we know it shouldn’t be taken for granted.
Firmament will be playing an EP release show on 31/01/2026 at The Chapel Nottingham. Tickets are available now!
