Glasgow-based Metal Band ‘Tantrum’ Unleashes “No Place For The Damned”

Prepare yourselves, for TANTRUM, the Glasgow-based titans of metal, are about to unleash their long-awaited third album, No Place For The Damned, on August 30th. Renowned for their relentless guitar riffs and lyrics that cut deep, TANTRUM’s newest offering promises to be a dark, epic journey through the themes of destruction, inner conflict, and the relentless quest for redemption.

No Place For The Damned ignites with the eerie “Manifest Destiny,” a track that delves into the cataclysmic legacy of the Manhattan Project. This electrifying opener sets the stage for an album that boldly confronts profound and complex emotions, marking the inception of the band’s ambitious new Trinity trilogy.

Leading the charge is the album’s powerhouse single, “The Darkest of Times.” This anthem plunges into the torment of intrusive thoughts that haunt the twilight hours. With its driving beats and soaring vocals, it’s destined to become a fan-favorite and a mainstay in TANTRUM’s explosive live performances.

The album is a treasure trove of standout tracks. “Minotaur” resurrects the classic Greek myth with a ferocity that harkens back to traditional British metal. “W.A.I.L” offers a poignant narrative on homelessness and the battle for empathy, while “The Deepest Line” explores a nightmarish world where lies leave physical scars, the deepest borne by one condemned to comfort others with deceit.

Adding to the album’s intensity, “Hellbound Planet” continues the Trinity trilogy, delivering a blistering commentary on climate change and environmental devastation. “Internal Bleeding” provides a harrowing look at the psychological warfare of gaslighting, and “Scarred” confronts the haunting aftermath of a loved one’s suicide.

“The Judge” is a sinister and commanding track, intertwining the lore of Judge Death with the Grim Reaper’s shadow, crowned by a chorus destined to echo in arenas. The trilogy concludes with “Traveller,” chronicling a scientist’s doomed mission to find a new home for humanity, leaving him adrift and alone in the cosmos.

The album culminates in the monumental “The Pit and the Pendulum,” a collaboration between Baz Fitzsimmons, Chris Horne, Mark Reid, and Micah Snow. This heavy-metal retelling of Poe’s classic tale, with its atmospheric build and thunderous climax, is a fitting conclusion to an album that promises an emotional and sonic rollercoaster.

“No Place For The Damned is our most ambitious and personal work to date,” declares vocalist Mark Reid. “Each track tells a unique story, yet together they weave a narrative about the struggles of our times. We’ve poured every ounce of our being into this album, and we can’t wait for our supporters to experience it.”

Guitarist Baz Fitzsimmons adds, “This album captures the essence of TANTRUM as we are now and hints at the path ahead. We’ve pushed ourselves musically, without losing the elements that fans love. I’m incredibly proud of our past work, but this album is a significant leap forward in our songwriting, sound, and vision.”

Bassist Chris Horne reflects, “Creating this album has been both challenging and rewarding. Even after hearing the songs hundreds of times during mixing, I’m still excited to listen to them again. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication that went into this project.”

No Place For The Damned was crafted between January and May 2024, under the masterful production of Chris Horne. Set to release on CD on August 30th, with streaming to follow, this album is poised to carve its place in metal history. Prepare for TANTRUM’s most epic chapter yet.

Born in the ‘70s Ro has been influenced by music throughout his life. At the tender age of 10, he was dutifully pumping 10ps into the Jukebox to listen to AC/DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie and Iron Maiden’s Run to The Hills constantly, much to the chagrin of everything else in the Youth Club! Ro then went to his first gig – SAXON! Since then all music has been his passion, with metal at its heart.
